Hammersmith Hospital

Project Overview

This was a highly complex roofing and M&E project that had complicated access issues both to get to the roof and to carry out the roofing once there.nfrcawards15_winner_white_2

It was made all the more complex with the plant on the roof that had to be raised and adjusted to facilitate the roofing works.

All works had to be planned carefully around the quench pipe from the MRI ducting, which was potentially lethal if disturbed.

All works were carried out using hot air welded built up felt roofing which meant no flame was used to mitigate the risk of a fire in very small spaces.

In May 2015 this project was Awarded as winner of the National Roofing Federation’s award for Re-inforced Bitumen Membrane roofing.

The Centre MK

Project Overview

M&J have been involved in works at the CentreMK for many years, but when CBRE took over the facility management, M&J assisted to expand CBREs impressive carbon neutralising ethos and introduced them to a brand new carbon neutralising membrane product. Not only did this offer a longer guarantee, it also managed to save the Centre money from previously specified products. The projects all impact on the service road which must be kept operational 24 hours of the day.

There was also a requirement for internal safety netting, which was installed in a tight time frame overnight, and dismantled, in the same fashion.

Brunswick Centre

Project Overview

M&J Group were involved early on in the specification and approach to the drainage and waterproofing, adding their considerate expertise to a particularly complex project.

The project involved numerous trades working in tandem on a live retail and residential site. All retail units had to be kept fully operational with all residential units remaining fully accessible. The works involved stripping existing podium decking down to the original waterproofing and installing a new high performance waterproofing system, following complete failure of the existing waterproofing.

A completely new drainage system was installed across the whole centre, as well as re-roofing a number of balcony areas and installing a complete new walkway over the new waterproofing, including new landscaping.
