Your Safety is Our Priority

Here at the M&J Group, the safety of our operatives on site and the general public is our main priority.

Utilising our expert knowledge of the roofing and construction industry along with decades of roofing & construction project experience we are proud to place ourselves at the forefront of safety and accident prevention in our industry.

Through the regular and scheduled use of a suite of training materials, high visibility site signage, and the highest of standards in barrier protection systems we are continually working to improve the standards of health and safety on construction & roofing projects throughout the UK.

All projects include detailed site inductions, risk assessments, method statements and health & safety site audits. Alongside this, the provision of our regular toolbox talks provided on site to our operatives ensures the highest standards are consistently being reinforced and adhered to.

Our expertise in this field is also evidenced in our achievement of the “gold excellence in health & safety” award under the 2014 Safety in Roofing Awards Scheme along with our many client commendations and recommendations.

Group CEO, Peter Henrickson, had this to say:

“….saying you are going to work safely is not enough.  You must show it, prove it and remind everyone all the time.   At MJG we like our message to be visible to all and we consistently reinforce this through highly visible site signage and the highest standard barrier protection systems…”

Ashtree School | Case Study

Ashtree School | Case Study

Ashtree School suffered with severe roof drainage issues which often resulted in internal leaks. When M&J arrived on site over 70% of the flat roofs were covered in standing water.

M&J carried out a complete re-design of the roof including making redundant all internal outlets and installing a double tapered insulation scheme, which drained rain water to the outside edge.  M&J also carried out the installation of Fascias, Deep Flow Aluminium Guttering & Downpipe Systems along with the complete re-design of the Groundwork Drainage due to historical problems. The works also included the installation of a temporary Trackway to gain access to difficult areas of the school and reduce damage caused by heavy vehicles moving around the site.

As part of our continued partnership with the schools we work with, our Business Development Manager (Richard James) carried out an assembly with the children at Ashtree School to explain what the works involved, the importance of health and safety around the site and which included a demonstration of the PPE items with children being dressed up as a construction worker!

Headteacher, Ms E Kirwin, has this to say:

“I was very grateful to Richard for introducing the work, that M& J Group are doing, to the pupils. The assembly was fun, with lots of props and a clear message about the Health and Safety aspects of the work. Pupils had the chance to ask their questions and demonstrate their knowledge too. Well done.”
