M&J continue to expand their People Portfolio

ronald-mcdonald-house-birminghamM&J Group add to our already wide ranging and experienced “People Portfolio”, with the appointment of Glyn Theobald as our ‘FM and Framework Business Development Manager’. Glyn has a fresh perspective on our industry having worked Client Side and brings with him a broad range of experience, spanning heavy engineering, military, security and shopping centre operations management. The latter being his most recent role as Operations Director at the Grafton Centre Shopping Mall in Cambridge for Jones Lang LaSalle and over 20 years experience in the FM retail sector, handling multi-million pound projects.

M&J Group already have a strong client base in these sectors and Glyn will bring valuable experience in further developing these areas.  In particular we aim to assist our clients with establishing meaningful and well-structured long term maintenance plans, as part of our already established RAMP system (Roof Asset Management Plan), Glyn’s knowledge of how the retail sector operate PPM Service Charges and the like, will mean we can easily engage in the ‘FM-speak” and demonstrate how we can add value to these programs.

Beside his work life Glyn is an active sportsman.  A keen cyclist (qualified CTC mountain bike skills instructor), which is even more amazing given he has an above the knee leg amputation following an accident many years ago and is the only such disabled rider to have achieved this qualification.  He rides using a prosthetic leg known as the Bartlett Tendon Knee and is sponsored by the inventor Brian Bartlett.  Glyn extends his knowledge in this area regularly delivering seminars and riding courses to injured members of the Armed Forces and civilians alike.  His determination and aptitude will be a huge asset to M&J Group in so many ways and will enable us to extend our community offer further within existing sponsorships such as Teenage Cancer Trust.

M&J Group donate to help the needy at Christmas

Already an avid supporter of The Teenage Cancer Trust, the M&J Group are always on the lookout for opportunities to give something back, particularly within the communities we work closest with. At no other time is this truer or more meaningful than at Christmas.Brunswick Centre

In recognition of the current season of goodwill and our wish to bring some good spirit to the residents of the Brunswick Centre, who have worked so co-operatively with us to date during the contracted works – Which we recognise must be intrusive to their everyday life.

The Directors of the M&J Group presented the BTRA with 50 x Waitrose Vouchers, each worth £10.00, which it is hoped can be distributed amongst the neediest of the residents.

Over 2015 M&J Group have been working as the main contractor at The Brunswick Centre. M&J Group have been involved from very early on in the design and specification for the 12,000+m2 of re-roofing, hard landscaping and the installation of over £1 million of new drainage systems. Removing failed syphonic drainage systems from live retail units and underground parking;   simultaneously replacing it with a traditional cast iron gravity fed system.

As well as prominent retailers (Waitrose, French Connection, Carlucicco, Starbucks etc), the Brunswick Centre has over 300 residential units. This required precise planning and liaison with the site stakeholders to ensure minimum disruption to their plumbing services. Shift work and the ability to work within very tight time slots were critical the success. M&J kept all parties informed through direct contact, monthly Newsletters and attendance at Resident Association Meetings.  Our Group message of “Your Safety is Our Priority” seemed to strike a resonance with all concerned, especially as the theory was so clearly demonstrated in the reality on site.
