Thomas Alleyne Academy

Project Overview

Various types of roofs, both listed and unlisted, can be found in the conservation area of The Old Town of Stevenage, with origins dating back to 1558.

Project Scope

These roofs feature a combination of Old Handmade Peg Tiles and Machine-made nibbed plain tiles. They exhibit a variety of pitches, including tiled dormers and lead-top flat roof dormers with lead cheeks. The structures also included timber fascia, soffits, and bargeboards. M&J were enlisted to carry out the necessary works, with a specific focus on preserving the historic appearance of the buildings and utilising as much of the original building materials as possible.
