M&J Group: 2017 £3m Investment Strategy for Growth

As we say goodbye to 2016 a spectacular year for so many reasons and we wait to see the ripple effects some of these events will inevitably have on 2017. M&J Group are pleased to report that year on year our planned strategic growth continues to surpass our targets and 2016 was no exception for the M&J Group. Not only did we surpass our growth targets, but profitability continued on the upward curve, matching our growth, stride for stride.

Whilst there appears to be much uncertainty in the general economy, no such concerns exist at the M&J Group. This year we are planning upward of £3m investment in our existing group of companies which include;

  • M&J Group (Construction & Roofing)
  • RAM Consultancy (specialist building envelope surveyors)
  • Lee Moore & Son (recent acquisition of local slating and tiling business)

Much of this investment will go directly to our new premises. We are moving from Kempston to Hammond Road on the Elms Farm Industrial Estate, into 35,000sq ft of warehousing and office space.

With extensive remodelling/refurbishment about to begin, this will include new state of the art training facilities. M&J have always been committed to training, having spent something close to £6m in the last 10 years.

We currently employ over 130 staff and operatives, undertaking £100,000.00 of roofing work every day!

Staff and operatives are extensively locally employed and most have learnt their trade with our company through the bespoke training programs we implement. The new training facility will hopefully service not only our own future growth, but we hope to also offer this service externally to other companies.

M&J Group believe in investing in our people and this is demonstrated by our commitment to them, through:

  • training
  • profit related pay scheme for all staff
  • a free staff fitness gym at the new premises

We also believe in giving something back and have long term relationships with several charities, which include:

  • Teenage Cancer Trust over £100,000.00 in the last two years
  • Outward Bound over £20,000.00 this year
  • Local Schools Careers in Construction presentations

M&J Group undertake all forms of roofing and associated external building works, such as window walling. We have a significant presence in the Education Sector where we have assisted many Academies in successful funding applications. Though as you will see below we are also diverse in our client base. M&J are a 3rd generation local Bedford based company working not only throughout the UK, we have carried out contracts in Qatar (museum), Poland (famous breakfast cereal company), Romania (Canadian Embassy), India (international airport), Finland (international businessman). However, we never forget our roots; we are both proud and fortunate to come from Bedford. Centrally located with good access to the whole of the UK, we remain committed to growing this company from this site training local people to do national and even international jobs.
