‘Inspirational Talk’ to the Centrepoint Charity London

logo-centrepointIn May this year Peter Henrickson CEO of The M&J Group was pleased to be invited to give an ‘Inspirational Talk’ to 30 disadvantaged youths in London for the Centrepoint Charity.

Centrepoint provides temporary accommodation and advice for homeless youngsters, most of whom have left home for quite traumatic reasons, from violence, abuse, gangs, drugs and/or problems with mental illness.  It is often safer for them to become homeless than stay in the environment that should protect them.

Peter, has had a chequered upbringing and was able to relate to these young people on a level they understood.  The language was often industrial and to the point, with no punches pulled on how someone can still find opportunity in the darkest places.

We can quote Peter “…..I relayed some of my early childhood, school experiences and ultimately what drove me to where I am today with my various business interests….I have to say some of the experiences these young people have endured is far worse than anything I experienced…..I was fortunate enough to gain an insight into just how tough life can be for some young people and how it is too easy to judge without really knowing…”

M&J Group are proud to have assisted the Centrepoint Charity, as well as our ongoing and long-term commitments to Teenage Cancer Trust, Outward Bound and The Elisabeth Curtis Riding School for The Disabled.

Peter concluded his talk, with advice on how to fill in CVs and then offered two apprenticeships at M&J Group, to anyone in the room that may have been interested.  Within two weeks, one vacancy has been filled and ongoing discussions are taking place to fill the second one.
